The travel and tourism industry in India is expected to create 46 million job opportunities by 2025. An article in India Today said that according to a report published by the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), tourism alone will be contributing a whopping Rs. 8, 50,000 crores to the Indian economy by the year 2020. -Salaries: According to Payscale India, a General Manager with four years of experience get an average salary of Rs 411,005. An executive chef draws an average annual package of Rs. 10, 20,000 after eight to ten years of experience. A front office receptionist gets an average annual salary package of 4,00,000 after four years of experience whereas a front office manager will the same experience draws an average package of Rs. 7,00,000 and above. During peak season such as holiday season in summers or Christmas and New Year Holidays, the hospitality professionals take home higher bonuses and incentives. On an average, a Duty manager with three years of work experience takes home an annual package of Rs 357,614 whereas Food and Beverage Manager gets an average salary package of Rs, 7, 00,000 per annum after four to five years of experience. National average salary for travel consultant is Rs. 3, 30,000. -Emerging trends: • Mindset of Indian travelers has changed in the last few years. People love to spend on travelling luxuries and thus the number of boutique hotels has increased and there number is set to grow by year 2020. • States such as Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and North-eastern states have seen a surge in the number of tourists both domestic and international. Lesser-known villages, towns and cities such as Pali, Chandelao Garh and Deogarhin Rajasthan, McLeodganj, Kasauli and Parvati Valley in Himachal Pradesh, Kodaikanal and Neduncheri T Puthur in Tamil Nadu have suddenly become favourite destinations of people across the country. • Visa on arrival to 150 countries. • Online travel portals and their ever-increasing popularity among the Indian middle classes. Flights, hotels, vacations villas, travel packages- everything can be booked online.

The hospitality industry is optimistic and expects a brighter and better trend. To meet the challenges , the hospitality sector is coming up with strategic marketing initiatives. Jobs in hospitality include waiters, restaurant managers, hotel management and hotel staff, tour guides, travel guides, resort workers, and operational staff in any type of leisure or travel related industry. some of the emerging trends in the hospitality industry are following : Tech explosion-The majority of guests today are self-sufficient, tech-savvy travelers who are comfortable using apps or mobile websites. Hotels offerings are up-to-date and user-friendly. Influx of international visitors- Hotels are providing services in a multitude of languages, and tailored experiences properly suited to the culture and unique needs of their international visitors. Increased emphasis on health and well-being- In addition to healthy food options, growing trends include lighting that energizes, air purification, yoga spaces, in-room exercise equipment and even vitamin-infused shower water Destination promotion- The explosion of social media is causing hotels to become more involved in destination and self-promotion. Many are featuring guests’ images and tweets on their websites; some are even using the material in their advertising campaign. Real-time damage control- Engaging with customers and responding to their needs through these public forums help maintain positive guest relations and drive future bookings. Unique perks- With so many brands to choose from, properties need to find a way to stand out. Some are offering free daily wine tastings in their lobbies or bars.
