I disagree with CAT is ‘all about’ common sense. Knowledge will always precede common sense in any exam.
Common sense is required when you answer any question in a way which reduces time (shortcuts), common sense is required when you dont take each question to your ego ( question selection) and common sense is required most in the last 10-15 mins of the exam where you have to remain very cool and refrain from marking so many questions randomly ( to increase the attempts) thus giving up to the pressure built up.
Common sense is required in the preparation stage too. Dedicating more time to major areas is one of them.
